Sharing some exciting news
I’m extraordinarily happy to announce that I recently gave birth to my first baby. My darling little girl is thriving, and we couldn’t be happier to be starting our own family. I’m amazed by just how happy she has made me – life before her already feels pale and distant.
I don’t plan to write about her or share much about her on this blog – I think it is important to respect both the privacy of my family in the here and now, and her right to choose what is out there about her when she grows up. I will write a bit about my own experience of being pregnant, occasional product reviews and so on, but these will be limited to my own perspectives (e.g. reviews of products for me, not her). There is of course a lot to consider in terms of gender and feminism when it comes to mother/parenthood, raising a child, and raising a girl specifically, and I expect I will reflect on these as the months and years pass. At the moment, I’m concentrating on bringing up a healthy and happy little person, and all the rest can follow.
While it is likely that parenthood will leave me with less free-time for writing, I hope to continue The Feminist Gadabout, and perhaps even reach some new audiences with reflections on my new life stage. Thank you so much to all of you who have been reading my posts – it means an awful lot to me to know that people enjoy my writing and get something out of it. I look forward to more posts in the future!
